New version of the iPhone Application has just been uploaded to the iTunes AppStore: Salsa Rhythm v1.2.
So what’s new in this release?
- Ability to switch between Clave 2-3 and Clave 3-2 , both in Rumba and Son Clave modes.
- “Reset to Factory Settings” button to get the machine back to the default configuration.
- Compatible with the new iOS 4.1
- Updates to the help and links screens, including new “Troubleshooting” section.
It usually takes around 2 weeks for apple to approve a new version, so meanwhile let’s just keep on dancing while we are waiting for apple’s approval…

I’d be surprised if you got away with a button called Restore to default settings”. Unless this is included as an app section in the Settings section.
Factory Settings = privileged words for the iPhone itself?
Default app settings maybe, but seeif as the app didn’t come from a factory but the handset did…
Even Apple uses Settings, General, Reset.
Could you describe more what it does? Sounds more like “default settings”. If ta an infrequent thing it could be in the Settings, app specific section. Guess there’s a way to hbe it as a setting in the app f it’s needed. Shake to reset?
Nice to see the clave direction switch
As always, good to hear from you Tom.
The new button is actually labeled “Reset to Factory Settings” and appears under the settings section, so let’s hope apple won’t make any troubles with this…
What the new button does is simply revert all the instruments to their default state, so you get the original setup that comes with the application. This is also the same setup that you get when you open the Salsa Beat Machine from the website. I guess it’s pretty infrequent, so shake-to-reset will annoy users. But maybe we can find some other cool use for the shake gesture ?
